Just finished a successful conversion to NEXT from a 5500CI PLUS. Advice from Benny and Neovo was invaluable and critical to success.

Unless you have a blue circle TM remote you will need to purchase a universal remote.

Below is what I did when I upgraded to a Next (from TM 5000).
If you can't find the do***entation on *****, then I could PM
you the instruction do***ent that I used.

Regards,
paulw

***** = darkman's site

1. Update to latest version of the TM firmware for your model

First check the firmware version on your TM.
Go to the Main menu on your TM and you should find the
s/w version information under "STB Information"; at
least that's where it was on my TM 5000 DACI.

If you have a remote control with a blue centre, then,
if the s/w version starts with HEB508A, then you don't
need to update the TM firmware.

If you have a remote control with a silver centre, then,
if the s/w version starts with HEB507A, then you don't
need to update the TM firmware.

Otherwise, go to the "Downloads" section on the Technomate site,
select your TM model, then download the firmware that your TM
requires. Then go to the TM "Support" section and download the
"Instructions on how to use the dts40 link software loader".

2. Upgrade your Techomate with NEXT firmware

Once you have upgraded to the latest TM firmware, then visit
*****. There you will find the firmware required to upgrade
to a Next receiver, and loads of do***entation and information
on how to perform the upgrade. Download and read all the
do***entation carefully before you start doing any upgrade.

You will need a 9-pin female-female RS232 null modem cable
to perform the above TM update and Next upgrade.

If you have a remote control with a silver centre, then
you will need to change it after you have patched the TM
to a Next receiver.
