no com port

i have lap top with no com port ,i can get a lead from ******s which is usb to 232 connection i was not sure which program to use whith this lead hope someone can help me please

yeah USB to COMMS port adapters are out there, i used one

it comes with a driver disk - and thats it, computer sees it as a normal comms port after that.
