Motor for 1.2 gibertini?

Any suggestions for a motor for the above the dish is aluminum i also have a 1.5 solid but i guess that would need a 36v motor.

They do, I use one myself, very stabile and sturdy, just hook a 36v actuator (18 inch) on there and away you go.

The Jaeger 1224 is also very popular for these dishes (and provides a full 180 degree arc [true horizon to horizon] which the original Gibertini mount can´t really muster) but these motors do require custom made adaptor plates.

There are a few people who use diseqc motors for these dishes...but these dishes really should be used with stronger mounts/36v motors. You can use a diseqc motor but you are really putting an overload on the motor and it might break more easily or get worn out before its time....also, don´t forget, the minimum pole diameter for these dishes are 55mm so you need adapters/spacers because the diameter on diseqc motors are mostly max 50mm.

I did have a gigertini 1.2 a few years ago not too keen on the mount too fiddly for me I use the andrews these days

I fitted the Stab HH120 to these dishes but you need the adapter bracket from H*sat

using stab HH100 with a self made extended top it works fine with the Gilbertini 1.2m

Not recommended for dishes above 1 meter only trouble is HH120 is slow you could try a Technomate/Motech motor but i've never tryed one (you can buy the extra bit for a few quid to fit on the HH100)

Thanks all i had heard about the 120 being slow but the dish is very light i an pick it up with 1 finger, and i will be using it in Spain so maybe i would get away with a 100 providing i can get an adapter i suppose anyone agree it's worth a try.

Used a 1.25 Gibby on a HH100 during the winter of 2 years ago. No trouble at all during winds reported as of 50 knots, but I'm in a sheltered position. Still useing the motor, now with a smaller dish. Had to get rid of the 1.25m, neighbour troubles. Now that he's gone to a hole in the ground I'm ready to put up a 1.1m wide by 1.2m high ally dish on that motor.

Stab HH100 with the stub extension, got it from that lot out at Bristol. But had to cut the back plate of the dish. I seem to remember reading somewhere that there is now an extra piece available which allows the 1.25 Gibby to be fitted to the Stab motor.
BTW my dish was the aluminium one.

I have been reading up on the Technomate/Motech it sounds like it could be a better motor does anyone know if this would fit Ok ?

The Technomate motor is a Moteck clone. Quite a number of members on many boards rate them highly.
The trouble that I found with them, is that the dish mounting stub hangs down. I found it very hard to try and lift the dish up, tighten screws and keep hold of the ladder with only two hands.
With the Stab motors the dish mounting stub point upwards, easy to drop a dish onto it then carry out the tightening of screws whilst still holding the ladder.
But of course that is only my opinion.

The motor will clamp straight onto a pole up to about 3inches+ in diameter if I remember correctly. Quite a few people clamp it to a 2inch scaffold pole between "T&K" brackets.
My motors have been fixed onto a 3.5m long by 2inch scaffold pole that has been concreted into the ground and has a tie from the edge of my conservatory a metre from the top. The motor is then fixed above the tie, hence I have to have a ladder to put dishes on/off the motor. That is the reason I prefer the Stab motors, broken bones at my age :eek: take ages to mend :frown:.

I have read on one of the boards that the Technomate motor has metal gears whereas the Moteck and it's other clones has nylon or plastic gears.

Thanks for that was the plastic getting bad reports ?
The poles i have are over in Spain from memory about 3" diamater they are quite cheap so i may get one and give it a try.

There has been the odd report, now and again, about the plastic gears being stripped during the gales. Which we have been having over the last few years.

Got a Moteck latest one it's waiting for me in Spain will install it when i go back in 3 weeks.
