Manual Install Of Keys?

I would just like to confirm that I'm doing this the correct and easiest way as this is the only way I know. When ever I need to transfer new keys to my DB I just download the new key on my pc then use Flash FXP and FTP the relevant file to the Var/Keys folder. This works no problem. However I know that on the remote menu under the Blue Button there is an option to do a manual install. My DB has a constant internet connection using a router. Does this then mean that it’s some how possible to download the new keys direct from my DB over the internet thus not having to FTP them via my PC.
Hope you don't think I'm mad I just don't understand what the manual install is for.
