Uploading firmware through usb port ?

hi all,

i have a pc with no serial port, only usb ports. i have brought a usb to serial port cable but despite trying several configurations, i couldnt succeed in uploading firmware to my humax 5400. please help me if anyone here knows how to resolve the issue.

I use HU15 and set my com port to com3,have you installed the drivers for your usb to serial cable?

Thanks a lot for your replies, as i am away from home, i will check it when i get to home. Btw yes i have installed usb to serial port driver.

Most probable it is a com port problem....

Goto Start, settings, control panel..then click system, then hardware, then device manager, find the port where your usb to seriel cable is shown, double click on it, then choose port settings, and finally click advanced tab to change comport as you require.

Most probably you will have to re-boot for the new settings to work properly.

Thanks friend, i had already set the com port (which was free) to match that of the uploader softwares, i.e., hoak and hu1.5 and other uploaders.
