new to hd

hi there. im thinking of getting hd tv and hd reciever for my motorised system. been holding back a whie now because only bbc1 hd is the ony 1 i know free to air. i dont know wots happening to itv wi they join hd soon, i hope so. aso wots on other satellites fta hd. i dont wwant to spend too much due to lack of money, but they say topfild hd is good quaility. i would also like to know whats blu ray.
