Problem with opening patch

Dont know if this is the right place for this but I have just got a new computer which is runing Vista home basic and when down loading the latest patch I cannot get it to open. I have winrar on the machine but a box comes up saying this programme heeds to be opened with rar. I have had no problems with opening patches on my old machine which had XP. Any help would be appriciated.

you need a program called winrar to open rar files, right click on file then, click on extract here or down load it in a zip file, windows can cope with most of these

Thanks for your help as I said have winrar on the computer but I have tried your method but still no luck.

Thanks echelon now can see that the files have been unpacked but still cannot see the darkman icon. Obviously having a lot of senior moments but shall keep trying.

I use IZArc M8 (for DM stuff) worked great on some other stuff I could not unzip as well

It is IZArc that i have now tried thanks to echelon. It is something that I am missing but I dont know what so shall keep trying till I suceed. Thanks M8 any other suggestions would help.

I use winace and have never had a problem.Do a search in google and there is a free download.

You don't say if you have the loader for the patch as well.

Looks like what Slap says above, If you`ve not got the loader installed then you will not see the yellow icon. Install "Darkman Tm loader 187" and everything should be ok.

Thanks M8s to all above and to Slap and Bass I knew it would be something simple and thats what it was had forgotten to download the loader. When you are doing something on a regular basis you forget the little things. We are sorted now and in full swing so once again thanks M8s.
