Hi there.
I'm also considering getting a new HD box.
At the moment, I'm considering the Technomate TM6900...
Anybody that has it or has used it would like to comment on either the 6800 or the 6900?
Thanks in advance.

I have just replaced my faithfull Humax 5400 with the Technomate 6800HD.
This is brilliant and so easy to patch through the usb port with a memory stick.
There are still a few bugs with recording but Technomate are working on this.I am using a portable hard drive to record on, again through the usb port. The picture in HD is superb.
The reason I bought the 6800 and not the 6900 with freeview is because I have the Humax pvr.
Hope this helps.

Clarke-Tech 500hd combo is not bad at all. It is cheaper and is the same thing as Your so-called TM Hd series. The difference is that TM is made for British Market while CT is for wider Eu market.

I own a Fortec Star and a humax2000 -- The humax is the far better for picture quality and more compatable for using with you know what's.
I have not turned on the fortec for over a month, anyone who wants it make me a offer!

Hi mf125,
I am using a Hitachi/Samsung external portable HDD. It came already fomated in Fat32 ready plug and play. Bought it on the famous Bay.
Just to be sure, I formated it again in the Technomate and it took about 5 seconds.
Hope that helps.

Sold mine for £90 -- Think Craplins still sell them for £99 in their refurb zone. Its a good HD box for that money ...like everything you get what you pay for -- unless your drunk and get ripped off :D
