cable connection to tv?

hey,

just bought a new lcd tv with this specification:

40'' screen
HD ready
Integrated digital freeview tuner
3D comb filter
1 X HDMI
2 x Scart
1 x Composite input
PC input
VESA Compatible
Pixel Resolution: 1366 x 768

I was just wondering if someone can help/advise me on what the best connection would be from the technomate tm9100 to the tv itself for optimum picture quality?

Check the composite input again, It could be (Component).
If it is Component, that would give an upscaled SD picture quality.
(ASDA Component Lead £6.95) £50 & £100 for a Monster Component lead at Comet.

oops , I never realised there was a component output on the back of the tm9100

having read the above I checked again and couldnt find the rca connectors for component ouputs

so it would be better to use component out if at all possible , and rgb scart next , and lastly composite out , in that order :)

hdmi lead better than scart much better picture carries full sound and picts.if you use component or composite you have to also have separate leads for sound .
works brill with my plasma.

scart , s-video and composite are the options on the rear , as well as uhf rf channel

Hi Ech no there isn't a separate component output on the 9100 but component can be output via the scart.So if he has component input's on his tv he needs a scart to component cable but he will need separate cabling for audio.

thanks for the replys.

the tv has :

1x HDMI
2x Scart
1x Component
1x Composite
PC Input

So the best option would be scart to component ? scart connected to the tm9100 and component connected to tv. For audio i could maybe use the an optical cable ? i see the tm9100 has an optical output , providing my tv has the input i could use that? if not what else could i use for audio?

im still waiting delivery for this tv , hopefully sometime today :)

there is a red and white audio out on the tm9100 and there should be the same red and white audio in for the component on the tv

so thats 3 for the video colours of red/green/blue , and red and white stereo audio , making 5 inputs from a scart video output and the audio output , this is assuming the scart to component has only 3 video output cables , and no audio cables

if it has all 5 outputs ( 3 RGB for video and 2 for stereo audio ) then that is all you need

so it really depends on your scart to component cable

having googled these cables , you want a scart out to rgb component in ( YUV ) , and also need a stereo phono to phono lead for the audio too

Yes that's correct separate audio cables, you cant get component and audio from the scart socket at the same time.

thats what I thought too !!

so I have taken it myself and just installed the yuv lead ( already had a gold plated stereo phono lead ) , and altered the image settings to ypbpr and hey presto , working fine on my toshiba 20 inch lcd tv

so scart to component and a stereo audio lead is definitely the best way to connect the tm9100 to a suitable tv as it is the best output available from the tm9100
alternatively , for audio you would probably be better with some sort of surround sound system and s/pdif connection ( which I dont have )

I think i am definatley going to go for the scart to component and a stereo audio lead off **** (thanks for the links) , i have a surround sound setup which is for the xbox 360 which i may also consider using instead of the usdi lead.

hey fellas,

so i got the tv mounted to the wall and all the holes drilled for the cables and have connected them to the tm9100 and to the TV. The cables i got were from the mentioned **** sellers above

i got

1 x SCART TO 3 X RCA COMPONENT CABLE 2.5M GOLD PLATED
&
1 x Gold RCA Phono to Phono Stereo Audio Cable / Lead

so i connected the scart to component to the respective sockets Cr+ Cb + Y , matched by colour code and the letters.

I also connected the audio cable to its sockets also.

so i turned on the tm9100 and the tv , tuned av3 and i can see the UR boot image but the picture is pink , then all of a sudden the picture disappears. I sen the image flash back on ever now and again but cant seem to get it on constantly :(

so does anyone have any ideas ? I went through the settings on the tv and cant seem to work it out....

mine did the same , you need to set the tm9100 image to component , which is ypbpr

it does go off and on whilst booting up too , and I havent seen the iboot screen this way , unlike the scart to scart lead rgb connection I used before

ps:- you can use a yellow to yellow phono lead connected from the tm9100 into the tv composite input just to see what is happening and make changes

Hi mate bit difficult to be on line at the mo i am in Spain but go back to 9100 nd change output to ypbpr you may have to go back to scart to scart to do so and then back to scart to component should work ok

one thing I am interested in

now that we have the box connected as scart to ypbpr component , what difference does this make to our pictures ?

are they better than rgb scart ? ( I think so ) , and more importantly , how can I tell its better ? is there a comparison test I can do

I also have a sony combi video/dvd recorder with rca phono outputs that are also component so what difference would I see if I tried this using a dvd

ie:- how does this improve what I watch and how can I tell ?
