Much more Lossless Audio now available. Many of us have HD TV's and the new Sony ones come with awesome built in 5.1 sound/ TruSurround XT. MP3 is one of the worst commpression if you like your music. Ok for quantity not for quality. Apple use AAC -- but for me Lossless is where its at for home use.

Here is a quick guide to it.
What is it ?
La is a Lossless Audio compression program. That is, in contrast to formats such as mp3, it reduces the size of music without affecting the quality, as the uncompressed signal is exactly identical to the original. However, the compression ratio is thus far lower than that for .mp3 files - you can expect around 50%, worse for heavier music and better for classical etc.
Software needed - Jet Audio, Winamp, foobar2000 Songbird
Hardware needed
I use a Creative Live! 24 bit, I would not use a basic sound card that comes with your PC look around - many on the shelf's.
Using XBMC on a Xbox will work great also.
