I see that Vantage have brought out the 7100 S HD receiver now available in the UK - Spec looks interesting with a mouth watering 20,000 channel capacity, 2 x Card readers and 2 x CAM slots. Big pricey though at £319!

From reading a bit on the net, I see this receiver has an ethernet connection. But has no Linux O/S.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

What can we do with this receiver if it has no Linux.

Anyone wish to translate the following:-

I think that is saying it has a Linux O/S.

I hope it says that anyway.

It's not a Linux OS, it;s based on the previous Vantage receivers

Thanks Tarzan for clearing that up.

Lots of mixed messages on the net about this one.

Thanks once again.

The ethernet is just for transfering data to a PC!

The info posted by scrambled is in swedish but it is filled with gramatic, logical and factual errors...so I won´t bother to translate it.

Joshjess and Tarzan are correct though. The OS/GUI is basically the same as the 200 series....and the ethernet will not do much more then transfer data...so far.
This receiver has as far as I understand begun to be delivered to resellers and end customers. So expect much more info to surface soon...or go to the Vantage kicks ass forum...you´ll bound to find a ton of info on the 7100 there!
There is already software updates out (a few bugfixes etc).

Dare I say that it is just a suped up X200 unit?...so if you like the 200 series...you´ll probably really like this one.

Just thought I´d mention that the blindscan available with the 7100 model is not true blindscan (hardware based) but software based.

I think the firmware update can also be done using the ethernet

Vantage VT 7100 HD is available now. A full review is available on a German site, AreaDVD (in German of course!) with pictures of menus.

Vantage VT 6000 HD is the economy version for around £200 and available January 2008. The front display on the receiver is numeric rather than a dot matrix. The sata and Lan connectors are ommited.

The blind scan function appears to be one of those sloooow software ones. Those needing a fast blind scan would probably need to patiently wait for something else

I'm testing it;It is not a linux based stb, but it is different than all the other HD decoders on the market.
The extra features, in comparation with competitors, are several:
It record using USB, but also using a SATA port on the back panel(as you know with very high bitrate it is request a very fast disk)
It own an Ethernet port for connection to an external server, or to your pc ...in future with this port it will do a lot of functions (tv stream and other stuff, legal or not :D )
Ota update for software and channel setting
Blind scan by software( at this moment doesn't exist any tuner mpg4 with blind scan function....so this is the only one choice for blind scan)
2 card readers and 2 common interface
One of the best Video quality(for my opinion the best, and i've test almost all the stb hd in the market)
*Update....read DIVX just plugging in an usb pen(or Hard Disk) with the file inside
