Hi all,
I have recently fitted a dish to a mate's house but the odd thing
is that the signal is very weak(no signal) on ALL the Verticals & very strong on ALL the Horiziontal ones.
Managed to put a motor on there aswell now, but it's the same problem
on the 3 Sats i have tried.
The LNB is a new inverto .2 ,TM 1500 Super with 1M ISS dish
in Altrincham.
Is it possible that if something was partially blocking the dishes line of site
to the open sky , would that give problems on the Vertical TP's or should
i try a few LNBs ?
cheers in advance guys.

If the dish is motorised, and there are problems on a number of positions, it is unlikely to be down to line of site. I would first check the settings in the receiver, coax connections, and LNB. You could get the motor to move the dish to a known position, and bypass the motor, to see if that is causing the problem also.

Thanks for the reply DrPaulos.
Think i will check the connections & LNB 1st off.
I must admit that the F-connector into the LNB was an awkward bugger
so might look there to start with as it might not be fully attached.

I would try adjusting the skew.

Intrigued to know if this has been resolved.

Sorry, Not resolved as yet, not been there really.
Just to add further info.
When i went up the ladder & slightly moved the lnb the
Vertical ones came back.
Went to the TM box & all looking good, when i moved from
TP to TP in the set up menu , I noticed the Vertical had all gone again &
that's without touching anything.
I have a few lnb's i can try so will report back when i try again.
cheers

Thanks for update.
Sounds like the switching not getting through. Best as you say to try another LNB as you have one.

Or it could be that the LNB LOF has drifted a bit off frequency and just sometimes the AFC pulls it in. Not only do they drift but they are temerature dependent too. Trying another LNB is probably the quickest test.

 Also worth remaking the cable connection at the LNB end - might be a whisker shorting out.

All,
Vertical now working ok.
I double checked the F connector at the STB end & there
were some whiskers hanging around, so i cut them off
the the Vertical is now on.
It wasn't the LNB as i checked that on my system & both H & V work at
my house.
The original connection was not of my doing i must point out.
This was also the only one of the four connectors i hadn't checked aswell.
Also had problems with the motor not moving west but only east except
for the manual button on the motor.
So for now, moved the dish by hand on the motor & got it spot
on 16east (Premium channels wanted), so turned off the motor
control on the TM 1500 so hopefully it won't move for the time being.
Will probably need to reset the motor next time i go down there.
Probably in the new year now as i go away to Spain just before Xmas.
Just wanted to get his Footy channels back for now as that is what the
guy bought the system for.
Couldn't leave him over Xmas with no footy as there is bloody loads of
it on at that time.
I don't use meters or anything, i just use a portable TV connected from the
RF out of the STB & put it where i can see the screen when i am playing with the dish. Always works for me this way.
cheers
