Personally, from the few HD receivers that I've seen, I believe the Humax 2000 is the best in SD. In regards to HD picture, again the Humax has the best picture, however, in HD most give you a great picture.
Please post your opinion/information about the HD receivers on the market, since many of us are waiting to buy one for Christmas.

PS. I know that the Humax is a dog (:frown:), however, it has a good picture quality.

I am using Samsung PS42Q92 plasma display and would like to get the one which has a very good upscaler for SD, and of course has the best picture quality on HD as well.
It is a difficult decision, but if you think for the future it is definetaly worth getting a linux based HD receiver.

ive had 3 boxes and the fortec was the worst for SD and HD . my pace is the best for SD and more or less the same as the Humax for HD.

From the few HD receivers I've seen, I'm with dave859. The Pace is as good as any other for HD, and it upscales SD better that the Humax and Technomate - in fact I was quite surprised by the improvement.:)

Unfortunately, it's behind the others in terms of ease of use...:frown:

I have a Ferguson 8800HD and a Humax HDCI2000....The Humax(wich is RUBISH) Has by far the best picture in both SD and HD...
But I don'recommand it at all.

Buy a Clark Tech 500hd combo. Its Hd and Sd pictures are very good. As pointed out by others before, the displays of the TVs you have matter. The new generation Hd ready Tvs display 1080i and 1080p. These two displays may tell a little difference!

What software are you running Yoda? I heard that with the latest software, the picture quality has improved. Any comments?

Not seen a picture improvment, but mine was great before, the main difference is you can now record to external usb and timeshift even on encrypted channels, its very stable and has mgcamd installed as default.

Watching Prem HD now with no issues.

LOL Yea I second that Fortec is like watching an old DER Black white telly :D

Humax is much better and is good if you dont watch so much.

On first week with a VANTAGE 7100HD and its awesome, shame my DER black white telly cant do HD :p
