Hi all, I'm using a 80cm dish with 0.7db LNB. Can bring in some FTA channels on this bird but struggle to bring in others. Dreambox reports high bit error rate with a SNR of around 60% on some channels with no lock. Is this normal? Thanks

yes three sats at that location different beams some transponders stronger than others all can be received in the uk but you need a bigger dish than you currently use

try a fine tune on a strong channel like hustler tv. move your lnb backwards and forwards for focal point perfection and skew it slightly left or right. can make a massive difference. some channels are a buggar to pick up like viasatsport 1.

Thanks for the replies chaps. Would a 1m dish be ok with optimal lnb adjustment? Was thinking of buying a 0.2db lnb also. Would that make a difference? cheers

m8 1mtr would be OK but you know what would be OK if told us your location.

1mtr in the North East of the UK and happy days welcome to Viasat, 1mtr in the North West of the UK then nothing.

You will also find for the V transponders you have to skew the LNB a fair bit.

Just thought what db you have ?

If its the 7000 then they are pants for weak signals.

Hi badflyer,

In the days when we had TV1000 on 5e, Viasat, before murdock got his
hand on it (NDS now) If you had less then a 1m dish (North East) Black screens
from 10pm till 2am. the signal on 5e at 12 noon was around 50 to 60% on a
Humax 5400ir, come 10pm Sig Quality would hover at 17 to 20%, then when
Sig droped below 17% on the Hummy 5400 (80cm dish) Black screens till 2am.
The one addvantage then as now the big Fights on TV1000 would start just
as we got the Picture back.
As I say I upgraded to a 1m Dish, 0.3 Invacome LNB, had a picture a midnight
at Xmas in a snow storm. Well chuft.

@keano What card or cam open Viasat, thanks.

Not much chance m8 with your dish, you might be able to pick up 12073H 27000 from 5.0e that is very strong.

The V beam are strange they come in strong at about 18.30 here in Manchester and stay till about 21.00 then go again, ( thats my 110cm dish ).

With 5.0e Nordic beam is not the norm, where its weak in the North strong in the South.
Its strong on the East and weak in the West.

@Bbigfoot m8. linux and contacts, if you catch me drift;)

Hi m8,

Hey if only you knew the trouble your pm to me caused:D.

She is OK now, makes the odd remark but what is great is every Utd match I watch her dad comes round to watch also and I tell her its on the big dish, even if its Nova or Canal+:D.
She thinks the world of her dad so if daddy is happy watching Utd on the big dish then everything is OK.

Viasat m8, I had a quick look at and no problem, the weak V beam come in fine once I have skew the feedhorn.

I also get the V beam on my 110cm dish at 07.00-09.30 and then about 19.00-21.00.

Using technomate 9100super now m8, its not a bad box and the images are getting better all the time.
