Can legitimate cards be copied?

I have a card that I really subscribed to (!!). I asked the provider about another card for a second Sat receiver and was told that I would have to buy another card -outright! I was expecting maybe something like 2nd card half price or something --but no luck. Buy the 2nd card for full price.

Can cards be copied? I have the old Phoenix card reader from the 'old days'.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. As I have a Humax 5400 I thought this might be the best place to ask. I don't have the 2nd receiver yet.

theres no way to copy sat cards nowadays as far as i know. If its not an NDS card (Sly) then there is a chance you can split the card using the Smart Wi Wireless Card Splitter. It does:
Seca Mediaguard 1 & 2 (Canal+ France) etc
Viaccess 1 & 2 (Art Sports) etc
Conax (Digitalb)
Cryptoworks (Digiturk)
Irdeto 1&2 (Nova)

On a well known auction site it costs £85 for a 2 reciever kit
