But at present TPS/Multivision/etc seem to be using the fallback key 8 and not the AES table.

Yes they have used service key 08 for via 2.3 for several days now.:)

key 08 is use on 007C00 ??. I would say :several years. :)

exactly , tpscrypt that is now switched off is just additional encryption on top of via1 .
so yes , key08 for provider 007c00 has been used all the time , on absat channels i believe it's key 0b .

The oldest key file lurking on my PC is 8 Aug 2004 and that has the current Key 08.

The point I was trying to make (badly it seems) is that the reason a Goldie works is that they are only using simple Viaccess and not TPSCrypt with its enormous key table.

Edit 1: No just found one dated 2 Jan 2003 (with Key 08 AA.......3B )

Key 08 is "service key".It is present and used since TPS started to broadcast in 1996. ;)

It is the fall back (default) key they use when changing to a new key.

08 has been there throughout all the other changes and it was why TPS will clear for a minute about every 10 minutes.

Today I can't get it to clear between times though. so something is new.

It's goodbye to Goldies if AES is on as neither the processor or memory is up to it.

As Grahamy stated.

so if we delete The service key , there will be no problem till key change .

If they are using AES key tables the card has to have storage for the whole day's keys which get downloaded in AU cards each day - a goldie doesn't have enough room for that.

The default key (in a goldie) would give you 1 minute of clear every 12 minutes while they change keys. If you delete the default key it would not clear at all.

tpscrypt is additional encryption on top of via1 , so key08 or 0b for absat when tpscrypt is ON (it's been OFF for a while though on absat - couple of monhts ) need to be present ALL the time .
