Hi folks,
Is there any superior brand for dishes, or are they all much of the same, I was looking at a fortec but read on the net that its not the easiest to set up. Im looking in and around the 1m-1.2m size. What has your experience been like with your dish for quality and signal strenght? baring in mind that other factors can hamper these.

I have 3 channel masters, a 1.8 and two 1.2 ( only one 1.2 in use)I have found them to be heavy but very good, as they are fiberglass they dont rust, one of my 1.2 is nearly 20 years old and as good as the day it first went up, but they are ground mounted, and moved with 36v jack arm so you need to run them with vbox's

Yes, My dad has a Channel Master, 1.2 I think, and operated with a Echostar. I will be going with a Vbox alright, from what i have been reading these are more for the bigger dish, The only thing with the channel master is that they are the more pricey dish, but I guess it could be worth it. I remember the day we got the dish at home, 6 years ago now, it was just the first dish we came across really, lucky i guess if its one of the top dishes out there.
I notice TR8 that you have a 5400CI+USB, I will be ordering one of these in the next month, anything exciting about this receiver?. I think its the best all round receiver out there, I was looking for the 1500CI+ when I found that i couldn't get it and its replaced by this one. Has everything I need. whats it been like for you?

Ps i know im going of topic here, but just saw that you had this receiver.

Please feel free anyone to post your experience with your Dish. Many thanks

yes got the 5400ci+usb as a replacement for my 1500 (the wife finds it very easy to use) there is nothing wrong with the 1500 and still use it its just the 5400 has the addition of a usb for easier updating, dont need to plug in the null modem the get the laptop out, just copy to usb stick then sent to box. apart from a bit more memory its much the same. And the usb lets you do some other stuff but that more for the technomate part of the forum

Ive got a Triax TD110 1.1m dish and Im very happy with it. If I had to get a new dish , it would be another TD110 . I installed it in August 2003 and it seems like it hasn't aged at all, I clean it every few months with warm soapy water. :D

Gibertini is another good dish especially in the smaller sizes. The installer who fitted my 1m was very impressed with the signal strength. It even pulls in some transponders Nilesat and Amos2 on clear nights and get all sats from 62E to 45W. The Andrews (ch-master) are very good too.
Generally you get what you pay for just steer clear of the cheap and nasty no name chinese stuff,

Ok I like all the comments, happy that Triax is up there. I think myself now its going to be a channel master or Triax. Which ever the budget allows.

The Triax 1.1m lets me watch what ever I want in the south of Ireland(aslong as the encryption is right!). I have no need for a bigger dish. The Triax is a good and light dish, It works well with my Stab HH120 motor which has also been out in the weather since August 2003.

Just remember that a Channel Master needs a much more expensive motor / mount to operate as a motorised dish! The Triax gets me all I need. But if you can afford a Channel Master setup then go for it.

channel master andrews 1.2m comes with it's own polar mount should cost no more than a diseqc motor (the polar mount that is) but you will also need 18inch actuator you will then have a dish that should last for years I have used most of the other dishes listed here in my opinion the andrews is the best for quality and ease of installation

if you have all the space in the world + deep pockets then go bigger than 1.8M 2.4 or even 3M what the hell 4.5 wil really bring in those weak signals in ku and c band
