That's just your personal opinion ;) ,but I can say when you own an AZbox ,it is really super quality building. I have mine since nearly 1 year now , and support from Opensat is aweful.
I did'nt had any problem with mine ,but 1 friend had some minor problems with the remote control ,and manufacturer guaranteed is excellent.
Sure the AZbox HD will be my next receiver. :):)
what box is not from china ? :)
azbox surely has the very best inside info about h a c k s , what other emu opens
tv globo , let alone has AU on this provider ??
if you don't like spending time with open source solutions , surely a HD box from azbox
is a strong candidate !

When I proove him my Chrysler Crossfire was build in Germany ,directly in Mercedes-Benz factory, using same body and motor as the Mercedes SLK while his VW came directly from ...Mexico !! he was sick.

I got latest info that new AzBox HD will be Linux based HD receiver like Kathrein, IPBox or DreamBox DM800. It will use latest Sigma Chipset and CPU, with more capabilities for IPTV etc, and they told that this will be real multimedia box. Maybe the bad thing is that it will have for some time Close source, but i think that we will get Gbox and MGcamd on it ;) . The style of this STB is awsome...
if its true, i think its good news. :respect-067:
It seems to be true, this has been posted by Admin on the forum for the product.

Strange how come that DGS from korea has had relook now so many years
how come that AzBox has the right to the name , was it register from azbox before the DGS acctualy did
produce their boxes ??
the Problem is not the price always , but the support , that what matters in the end

I will be buying this AZBOX Premium HD receiver as it has the latest CPU unlike existing released boxes, some of which took so long to come out they are out of date.
Don't think I will bother with the Dreambox 800 at the moment as it's too overpriced for what it does at the moment.
Most consumer electronics has fallen in price but some receivers like IPBox 9000/Dreambox 8000 are not worth the asking price.

Neotionbox great news on the AZbox but can you show us any output from the softcams in use
ie. screenshots of OSD with name displayed or some of the info from Cccam's webif which will show it is running.
Sorry to cast doubts but with a certain supplier of boxes claiming his box will do this that and the other when all the facts would seem to point against it I am just wary of any claim that a box is running Cccam that isn't a Dream or Itgate.

CCCam support it's a great news if it's confirmed, if not NewCS would do the job for me.
Can the mkv video files support be confirmed?
It's nice to see an alternative to Enigma, I don't like Enigma very much and don't understand why every linux sat receiver manufacturer is copying it instead of innovating the sat scene.
What about blind scan and 4:2:2 feeds?
Lets see if it cames out first than DarkBox 9000.
Cheers.
mytoza
10-10-2008, 02:59 PM
Biggest reason for enigma is because of Cccam, the owner of the source code has only developed it for enigma and I believe some desktop linux.
There is a lot of speculation as to whether Cccam is owned by a private individual(s), the gemini team or Dream itself but one thing is for sure there has never been any movement on bringing it to other types of linux or processors outside those used by Dream
BE-COOL
10-10-2008, 03:08 PM
DM100 is not Enigma and runs CCCam, the problem is not Enigma but the processor the receiver uses, since CCCam hasn't been compiled to Sh4 processors that most Dreambox competitors use(Kathrein,DGStation).
I like CCCam, but why don't they create a new and better Emu for sharing, it is stupid to try to pay more than DM for the CCCam suport.
They should create a new OS and EMU. Enigma and CCCam are far from perfect.
Cheers.
mytoza
10-10-2008, 03:36 PM
Thats a good point Dm100 is not enigma but it also proves the point about Cccam only being for Dream.
It would be nice to produce a new emu but again no over emu can read cccam because the source is closed and like it or not it is the defacto emu now.
As for OS there are some nice ones out there already as shown with this AZbox which seems very good from the pictures.

I think that the monopoly of linux receivers is about to end for Dream Multimedia, with the mkv files playback and CCCam protocol with the release of Incubus Cam for others Linux Receivers.
Since the CCCam protocol is about to work in every linux receiver (regardless the processor they use) I think that prices will drop and linux receivers will be even more popular than they are now.

346.84€ is too expensive, in google I found 3 spanish online stores that will sell this receiver we just have to wait to see who will sell it cheaper.
Kathrein UFS 910 is far from perfect, but now it uses Enigma2 with Mbox and Incubus Cam for CCCam and costs 249€ in a portuguese store, so I will wait and see.
The whole concept of linux/open source is being distorted regarding sat receivers, it should make receivers cheaper, not expensiver, like it does with computers.
Sat receivers manufacturers and sellers are taking advantage of the popularity of linux receivers in sat scene to charge the prices they want.
It would be great to see one sat receiver trully open source appear made by the sat comunity and for the sat comunity (without profits in mind), if a sat forum started a project like this it would became huge.
Cheers.

It is indeed John333, the trouble is the site is in Giorman, and trying to contact them by phone is no good.
The spec looks good for the Azbox....but the Qbox has also got a good spec. AFAIK the next AZbox's are available from the first week of December.
The problem is until there is any feedback on these box's and how well they work it is very dificult to know which one to go for.:respect-010:

Ive checked with Lee from Goldwafers (our sponsers) he says they've got no plans to sell these for the time being
I emailed the German company who plan to sell them from next monday & got an english response
I think what will push the sales of this machine, as the spec looks really good, will be who or what teams decide to support it - a bit like the Technomate 9100 when that came out

This all to me seems like a big rip off.
This machine loses some of it´s specs as we speak.
When I ordered it the seller confirmed that it had a DVB-T and DVB-S
tuner, 2 x CI and 2 internal cardreaders .
Just 2 weeks later there´s on 1 tuner (DVB-S) left.
1 cardreader and even only 1 CI slot??
I guess I´ll better cancel my order before HDTV vanishes as well

On another board a member called AzboxTest has written that the pictures shows the mainboard of the elite Azbox
But for me more important is the question if there will be a defintiv support for the cccam (and other mips softcams from the dreamboxes)
Can you confirm that NeotionBox?
For the actual revision of this receiver ^^
Because configuration changes so often and fast that most people don't know what there are buying

@ NeotionBox
Thanks for your presentation about the azbox.
My self I have an Dm800 and a few other Dreambox models but I have at least 3 friends that are in the market for a receiver like the DM800 but at lower cost.
Can you please confirm that CCcam runs on this as client and if the cccam version (s) are the very same ones that run on dreamboxes or are they modified versions?
Can you confirm if the softcams for the azbox that you tested are the same as dreamboxes or it's modified version?
Also the DM800 does not ready cards that need to run at 3.57mhz like nagra3 cards from tv cabo. What type of smartcard reader support does it have?
The support on Dm500/Dm7000,Dm7020 is great as it works with my tv cabo card but will the azbox models work the same?
Thanks in advance.
Lets hope that the image is from the elite board then, do we know when these are going on sale yet ?

AzBox have own developed version of CCCam with better protocol usage ( UDP ) and so on....
Will it be aible to connect to "old" CCcam protocol (TCP) thats what people want to know I guess.
For many people thats important, with that you could seemlessly dig into excisting "networks"

To develop a new emu protocol is one thing , but to make it work with exisiting protocol is another thing for sure.

Qbox runs E2 yes.......BUTT
The used chipset ("st") will never run gbox or cccam
So that has to be:
1 - Mbox
2 - Incubus
Enigma2 isn't holy for me and it doesn't automaticly means all plugins from DMM will run on it ( I'am shure it won't because off the "st" chip), don't forget that
i think u peple r trayng to fool yourself

I have not do fool myself because i can easily send back the receiver if there are missing features i need
i want to run a cs server on it (i hope based on cccam, or maybe on mbox)
and if this will be a problem than i will buy another box
thats no problem i have enough receivers for looking tv i am not waiting impatiently for it ;)
Hello,
I am curious about this box... I read the PDF and find out that they speak also about DVB-C?

where does it says on the spesifications that this box will run CCcam
if you buy stuf just becouse off CCcam then you beter stop
then if the box it self missess few things that are in the technical reports or if it does not do what is prommised from the producer then you can send back the box.

I dont now where you life
but in germany you have the right to send every product back you have bought online within 2 weeks
and you get your money back without any problems
So thats really no problem for me ;)
Edit:
And now to answer on your question before i am going to bed;)
Why i am thinking that cccam works on the Azbox
Because NeotionBox has told us 2 weeks ago
more....
CA Menu.... Channel Selection...
And now i know all of you will ask what is emu support with this box ?!
Tested OK with : CCcam 2.0.9 ( Client ), Gb0x ( Client ), MGCamd ( Gbox client OK, as Internal Emu Ok ), Newcamd and NewCS ( Also OK ).
All working OK.
I tested my C+ Nordic, Cyfra+, C+ NL Card OK...
Wlan streaming also ok...
and of course
yesterday
AzBox have own developed version of CCCam with better protocol usage ( UDP ) and so on....
ok i dont now what he wanted to say with an own developed cccam version
That could be an own patched Version
maybe more Features the possibility to use the card reader without newcs or the better protocol usage ;)
Something i have learned here is that every answer results in 2 more questions ;)
and if neotionbox still isnt bored reading our stupid discussion maybe he will also solve this *g*
But cccam is for me cccam
And i think if he would mean another softcam he would write there will be an Incubuscamd or something other
and not that he has testet cccam 2.0.9 ;)
And the last point
please show me the line in the Dreambox specification where i can find the information that cccam is running on Dreamboxes ;)
I think thats more an unofficially supported feature ;)

Thank you NeotionBox
as already asked by other members I too would like more details.
you said before that:
Tested OK with : CCcam 2.0.9 ( Client ), Gb0x ( Client ), MGCamd ( Gbox client OK, as Internal Emu Ok ), Newcamd and NewCS ( Also OK ).
You also said that it's a new version of cccam after I asked about it more.
Now I'm more confused.
Is it like incubuscamd?
What about the other cams listed as ok as client?
Are they all azbox's own versions?
More important question is this one regardeless of own version or not:
Will we be able to connect to other emu/servers as clients on dreamboxes/pc linux servers and so on?
If so are there plans to also serve and not just client funcion?
Does the azbox cccam version connect with other protocols like on dreamboxes? Radegast, newcs, camd3 and so on?
I'm asking this because I'm interested on this box and have 2 or 3 other friends waiting to know if they can place an order or not.
Thanks

You are maybe right about the atual output to the tv and of course DVB-S2 supports only upto 1080i but our friend is refering to movie file playback from the hard drive and that file could be at 1080p.
Now I dont know if it's a typing error or not but it would be nice to have it confirmed.

I think what that means is the output to the TV from the receiver for menus and movie files playback is at that quality 1080p and not 1080i like on other receivers like dreamboxes.
That is not an issue and all it means is that if you have a Full HD TV you will at least be able to view movie files at full quality 1080p like blueray discs.

No, here we are talking about ALL the capabilities of this box. Indeed sat transmission will be for the best 1080i (everybody here interested in Sat HD knows this).
There was a debate to know if yes or not the AZBOX HD Premium is 1080p capable since it is a Media Center and not just a HD STB.
And the answer seems to be yes the AZBOX is 1080p capable and since it is able to read .mkv files, this interesting to know that you can benefits of your files in their full definition.

No we are taking about the new AZbox HD and it functions. There is no need for separate thread for every single function that is not about a satellite channel.
This Box is not just for satellite tv.
It's a media center too from the looks of things.
Dreamboxs can read movie files and music as ell as photos but not anywhere as good as what this box promises and it's natural everyone wants to know more without having to go to muitiple threads about the very same receiver.
I'm sure you do understand and just replyied as you did to make a point that you were right about 1080i on sat tv channels and noone has said otherwise.
The reason for 1080p e very much a valid reason as already explained even if it was only for viewing photos at full resolution it would be a good enough reason.
Thanks

The chip used in the box is the same as used in Blu-ray DVD players, and is therefore 1080p compatible.

Aspected prices off additional tuners I didn,t hear yet but availeble in januari 2009.
For the 1080P issue:

Hi again,
Just to clear few things about 1080p res. As all of us know, and some users already posted that there is no any Satellite channel which is broadcasting in Full HD resolution 1080p. But why 1080p on AzBox HD ?! Simple answer is, this receiver is also IPTV receiver by default, so many users will be also subscribed to their IPTV provider, also if you download .mkv movie you can play it in 1080p, also there is upscalling which is excellent on this box. We know it is better to use 1080i instead of 1080p, so there is AUTO resolution, so every channel will be in 1080i, every full hd mkv file will be in 1080p. It is possible to play DivX or XviD in 1080p, i checked it already. I think one option which all of us will like on this receiver is possibility to add subtitles on AzBox for movie on some satellite channel, this plugin is something like Drtic plugin which is only working on Enigma 1 based receivers....
Also many users asking will this 2 box's be powered by Enigma, NO, they will be not powered by Enigma, because it is so buggy....
Probably, favourite thing is when i got this box, currently i have first testing sample, and i have heard that there is finished box ready....
I unpacked it, i installed disk, i transfered .mkv file, i choose in Home screen Movie, and movie was automatically in list, i pressed enter and i got my 1080p movie on screen wooow ?! Point of this is, that some end user which is not familiar with Linux, commands, telnet and so on, will be able to play movies, mp3, pictures without any need to install additional plugins and so on...
This concept is something new, probably of it's interface, and i like it much more now than any enigma 1 or enigma 2, much more faster on zapping, from FTA to Scrambled, SC to SC, FTA to FTA ...... Samba working by default, web interface.....
That's great, Enigma is the worse sat software I ever tried in a sat receiver, the channel editor is horrible for example... the software of my Clarke Tech 2100 is far better.
A new user friendly and complete linux OS, and new Camds (CCCam is the best so far, but it is not perfect... and a new Camd can replace it) for CS is want we all want in the linux sat scene, the user interface for this receiver, by watching the osd pics, seems very user friendly complete and well build.
AZBox Team seems to be willing to bring something new to linux sat receivers, all others DM competitors are just copying Enigma and don't seem to be interest to inovate this hobby.
Thanks Neotionbox for keeping us updated.
Cheers.

That would be great to see what is left of this former

The decent thing for Azbox would be at least to cut the price for
this receiver again as promised features are not included in the

Just a ridiculous way of promoting a new product-me thinks

Yes there are excamples enough of that, one compenay is very big in that, there are people waiting 2 years on a box now and it still isn't here.

E-mail from a shop:
yes it will have one DVB-t and S tuner,
2 cardreaders 2 CI.
This was also written in the data sheet (also in the offer) and confirmed by NeotionBox who does seem to be a betatester.

Datasheet tells you :
"smart tuner support"
That means you can put in one - ( or in Premium box ) two tuners in any combination
DVB-S2 - DVB-T - DVB-C
What the shop told you is not declared by Azbox ( If you beleave shops I already would have a dm8000 for 1,5 years now.
So features are still there and nothing else.

Can you please just clarify something about cccam on the azbox hd please?
I Understand you said it's azboxe's own version and that is supports cccam in client mode.
My main question is does it support more than one C line at the time?
Does it support R,N and L lines?
Have you tested as client to receive D+, TVcabo and MEO form Hispasat?
I if you need help with connections to test just PM me as I can arrange a line for testing those providers on the azbox hd.
Another question is does it support MPCS? MPCS is used with cccam 2.0.4 to connect newcs with cccam for nagra3 cards like the ones from hispsat.
Thanks again

well some of my key questions about cccam and DVB-API remain to be clarified and at least the one about DVB-API should be clarified before any purchase is made.
IS a specification and anyone when buying or looking to buy has the right to know what the specifications are before paying.
I'm quite sure that neotionbox or someone else here knows or can find out if it supports DVB-API or not.
If it does not then it's a no to the normal CCCam support as that works on dvb-api. Unless there is a re-write of cccam just for azboxhd.

Now when the final looks of ELITE and PREMIUM has been revealed (and they both look THE SAME) I think I will downgrade my order for 3 units and get ELITE if the only hardware difference between those 2 boxes is:
> onboard WLAN
In many forums there has been news recently that ELITE also allows hdd inside installation (2,5" or 3,5") which previously was reserved for PREMIUM only.
How about tuners and readers / CI ?
Any 100% confirmed differences there ?

Well, i have same opinnion like Xanadu, wait for online tests by user's, read all opinnions abut this or other stb's. And I can tell you that in Premium version there is 2 Card Readers, 2 CI, in elite it is different....
AzBox Premium oponnent or concurrent to DreamBox 8000 ( not DM800 !!! )
AzBox Elite is oponnent or concurrent to DreamBox 800 .....
That is real situation, but when both models come out, i am sure that there will be a lot of people which will tell you situation with this box, and that is the best advertise for one Box, if people are satisfied with capabilities of it, i am sure that everybody will buy it...
I am a little bit sceptical with Qbox HD, we saw the image of board, has anybody saw connection on board for 3 Wireless Anntena's ?! And there is a lot of missudenrstanding of that board, for me, now image of Qbox is like refurbished housing of DM800 with same size OLED display, but different housing, also somebody put 3 antennas... There is nothing official from producer and so on.... It is already in shop's but..... there is no any other image or anything else.... The production of this stb's is not so cheap, it is quite expensive.....
Qbox Hd does not look nice at all but looks like a work horse.
An industrial router.
The three antenas is normal because it a wireless N wifi not G. If you look at N standard routers normally have 3 antenas as they can run at 300mbts.
Qbox HD looks good in hardware but not looks. Not quite what you want to have on view in a lounge but if it does the job. If it runs cccam like a dreambox then looks is not that important.
Price seems fair for the hardware included.

Excatly, in future CCcam as client and server, future - think on few months, but for beginning it is enough to have all CS clients working stable and ok....
Fro, what i know incubus does not support all the features as a client in cccam mode.
Example takem from ipboxes(cube revo):
Only one C line at the time works.
Nagra 3 cards like tv cabo only works if connected to newcamd protocol and not via C line.
This lacks big time on what users expect and want.
Can you please reply to my questiuons asked before on this matter?
How many C lines does it support and does it support N, L and R lines?
I would be happy to recomend this box if it was only in client mode but not if it's incubus version like on Ipboxes.

I like that this is built with the Sigma Designs chip, they have always made really high quality chips... Wonder if it could be turned into a BluRay player (I mean disc player, with correct keys and such)...
I would really like uPnP (dlna) server/client that the Qbox will have in the Azbox...
STi HD recivers can be found from 140 euro, so the prices I think must come down some more...
