The latest software is now a Beta V 1.08 1/2/08, which has an improved EPG. Fortec Star are now going to bring out a new version of the receiver with pvr facilities but using a different chipset so further development of the present box could be curtailed.

The Passion is still a good receiver even though it is being superseded by a newer chipset model. It does most things well, gives a very good HD picture and comes with its own free version of set-edit. At the price, I paid £149, it's good value and I shall be keeping mine until something substantially better comes along.
...and again they have not ruled out PVR on the passion yet... have they ??
Lovely pvr buttons on the remote, even though they will probably never work, ah well eventually it will probably join the Relook 400s and TM 9100s that i have in a cupboard on a shelf marked "Receivers that didn't live up to what was expected"
Wonder what receiver i will be suckered in to next ?

the trouble is some receivers are going backwards in technology there is no market leader at the moment no flagship receivers out there like in the old days

there is a smattering of hd channels about but not nearly enough to warrant splashing out a fortune on an expensive receiver which will be outdated in a few years when there should be many more channels available and better receivers about!!

It will be interesting to see what the Freesat organisation comes up with as its HD/SD receivers later in the spring ( perhaps even a pvr?)
