LG HDTVs go High Tech

Not so long ago, associated with clunky design and indifferent picture performance, the Korean manufacturer LG now has a growing reputation not only for innovative design but for producing High Definition TV's which offer numerous optimization and calibration options.

With simple calibration options, content specific Audio Visual Modes enable consumers with little or no technical expertise to adjust the picture and audio quality to an optimal setting. Cinema, game and sports modes customize the picture and sound based on content type. The Cinema mode for example, automatically adjusts colours to D65 standard (SMPTE standard for movie colour).

LG’s ISFccc option, available on all 1080p LCD and plasma HDTVs will not disappoint the most technical savvy consumer. ISF calibration helps to deliver a level of picture quality representing what filmmakers intended viewers to see. With LG's Expert Mode, an ISF-certified calibration technician can professionally calibrate an HDTV using ISF parameters related to individual home theatre environments and in particular, ambient lighting.

Once established, calibrations are saved as ISF “Day” and ISF “Night” modes. With ISFccc, LG offers a 10 point calibration system designed to provide an extra level of precision for grey scale calibration aimed at achieving a more uniform picture.
