Are mobile usb 2.0 Hard Disks 2.5" good-fast enough for PVR?

Has anyone of you used even those slower 5400rpm 2.5" external mobile disks which get powered by USB? Are they good-fast enough to record,playback rewind, similtaneously record and playback etc?
Have you tried it with HDTV recordings?

yes, we have used one and they work fast enough.:)
we have a portable WD 2.5 160GB disk and a cannon mini DV video camera, the disk is fast enough to capture the DV video using firewire to the computer and usb 2 to the drive.
