I am leaving in the Arabian Gulf.
Can anybody tell me which size of the dish I need to buy to watch 28.2 East?
Which English Channel can I watch on 28.2 East?
Thank you

I would say you have no chance being so far away from the uk where it is centred upon

You may have some luck with South Beam from Astra 2a and 2b, even Eurobird but nothing from Astra 2d unless you went supersize monster dish.

You would still need approx 240cm-300cm dish for 2a and 2b.

To Suky, even if you could get a good signal for 28.2E you'd discover in a very short time that the majority of FTA programs available on this satellite are poor. The majority of us stay away from this satellite and stick to 19.2E, 13E and 1W.

@ prontopro m8 very true not many FTA channels on anything else but astra2d that are any good.

Suky forget it m8, UK tv is rubbish any way thats why us lot have dishes for 19.0e,13.0e etc etc:D

Not too exciting for some but for those of us struggling with the infamous 2D footprint are only too pleased to receive what we can and the reception of the BBCi services on 12441 V 27500 make receiving 28.2 E a must. This afternoon for example.....Live snooker/Athletics/running Football scores etc, along with a music stream.

Like now for example, live Manchester United v Arsenal... 2-0 at the mo..

This site gives you the forthcoming details:- _http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tv_and_radio/5345480.stm

As a guide, to receive continuous coverage of BBC/ITV etc, a 240cm dish is required
.....to receive 12441 only a 34cm dish is needed !! (Alicante, Espaņa)

As usual, depends what kind of channels you prefer to watch, most of us here are more interested in the actual reception capabilities etc.

Keano and I are at opposites.....he needs 2.4m for Nilesat......I need a dustbin lid
on the opposite foot he needs a dustbin lid for BBC/ITV etc, I need 2.4m, both happy though !!

Best wishes to the thread starter.

Hi m8,

You've just taught me something there, I never knew about BBCi.

I wonder if other expats know about it you hear about expats trying all the time on other forums trying to get BBC on astra2d, when they could simple use BBCi.

On the Nilesat front, at the mo things are OK ( summer coming ) watching showsports this morning and ART last night.

Cheers m8;)
