Consumer interest in Blu-ray surges
Toshiba's decision to concede victory in the High Definition format war has had an immediate impact.
The online arm of the electrical retailer Dixons has reported that consumer interest in the prevailing Blu-ray format has more than doubled overnight.
In response to Blu-ray's victory, Dixons has removed all HD-DVD (the rival High Definition format) products from its online store. A spokesperson for Dixons said ... "This is good news for consumers as the availability of a single format will allow consumers to purchase the High Definition Blu-Ray format DVD player with every confidence and enjoy all the benefits that this fantastic format has to offer. Now that the winning format is clear, Dixons.co.uk’s aim is to have the UK’s widest selection of Blu Ray players available for customers soon."
