Sony BDP-S350 and BDP-S550 Blu-ray players
Both of Sony's new Blu-ray players feature enhanced compatibility with high definition sound formats. Both include support for 7.1-channel Dolby TrueHD, Digital Plus, dts-HD and Master Audio, while the BDP-S550 also offers dts-HD and dts-HD Master Audio decoding.
Both players offer full Profile 1.1 support, which includes BD Live which gets you online features along with picture-in-picture compatibility. The BDP-S350 is released first and will need a firmware upgrade for these features.
Coming with full Blu-ray Profile 1.1 support, these units are the first from Sony to be billed as 'upgradeable'. They can both hook up to the internet to grab bonus movie content and firmware updates.
No word yet on when these players will arrive in the UK, but expect them on these shores some time in the second half of 2008.
