I have a legitimate new SSG card, but it currently refuses to update in a black Viaccess CAM. I wonder if this has something to do with the change to Via 2.6? Looking at the authorisations on the card, it was valid until 29/02/08.
The receiver is a Humax HD2000CI. Is there someone out there with an SSG card and using a Via CAM?

No problem with a red Via CAM and a Humax
You must have the new card wich, on the front side, is mostly light blue with a little red swiss country at the middle of the europe

Hi Parodin - it's looking like my black Viaccess cam, which has been fine until now on via 2.3 is not compatible with via 2.6 - so I guess I need to change it. My card is the latest, with the markings you describe. Are you running a Humax HD2000CI ? Although many other Humax receivers appear on the SSG web-site, they don't mention my model - but perhaps thats because it doesn't have a built-in module

can't you upgrade your cam via satellite , i remember doing that few years back on my black via cam . after that my via2 card worked fine .
there was a specific channel you needed to reboot you equipment on and that did it .

well google recalled my memory :) , it was the pron channel SCT amongst few others .
when via1 providers switched to via2 , they carried the upgrade software OTA .
not sure if this is still the case , but check out your provider web site or teletxt .
another solution is to download the sw and upgrade via pc .

Thanks Raul - however my black via cam does not have an upgrade option in its menus. I also found a website where the s/w upgrades are downloadable, but it appears that my cam is not compatible. I guess I'll have to dip into my wallet instead. Thanks again for your suggestions.

Hi,

have you tried this one? "Viaccess Black Cam Update Englische Version"

You might need to install a vitual machine with Win95/98 on
your laptop, if it is not your default OS!

Thanks for the suggestion, Tyler. Yes - I'd seen this s/w - but I don't have acess to a Win98 PC. In fact what I did for the moment was to put my card into a friend's red Viaccess CAM. It immediately updated .... and now the card also works in my black CAM. So it looks as if the black CAM can't receive the updates - but *is* capable of decoding Via 2.6. The update is good until mid-April, so I'll see what happens then and if necessary buy a red CAM.
