Blue Ray recording??

Are there any blue ray recorders available yet as all I see in the shops are players ???:confused:

Panasoinc are almost there I believe. Bringing out one model with a 1-terrabyte HDD.

None out at the moment. In Japan there is a blue ray player which is due out/may be available to buy now with hard drive but no recordable blue ray drive. (You can buy drives for a PC).

There is the LG GCW-H20L.
I walked past a load of them in my local computer store in Spain.

That is a PC blueray/HD/dvd drive (not a standalone blue ray recoder).

"......Before you get too excited, Sony's BDZ-V9 and BDZ-V7 Blu-ray disc recorders are only launching in Japan, but hopefully we'll get sight of these attractive units (or something similar) sometime next year. But if you're in Japan, you can get in the queue for a December release.

Both models will record two TV programs at once via their two digital and one analogue tuners, which you can back up to Blu-ray disc. However, at this time, that's only a 25GB disc - no 50GB BD-R/BD-RE writing or reading as yet. However, as a slight bonus, you can read AVCHD discs. Other features include scheduling recording via mobile phone, streaming to PC, video conversion to MPEG-4 (for your Sony PSP I'd guess) and all the connectivity you'd expect, including HDMI, i.Link and USB.

Release date is December 8th for the BDZ-V9, which comes with a 500GB hard drive for 300,000 Yen (£1,349). The BDZ-V7 follows on December 19th with a 250GB drive for 250,000 Yen (£1,125).

Hi fred fickle,

This will give you a HD recorded picture play back IF you have,
A HD STB (Humax HDCI2000 or so).
A progessive scan DVD Recorder.
A progessive scan TV Screen.
A Component lead (£6.99 Asda)
A Diablo or Dragon cam.

Connect HD STB to DVDR with a scart lead (better if both have component IN and OUT.
But the scart will still give you a (576p HD Play back).
Connect the DVDR to your TV Screen with the Component lead.
Pick a HD Film (Prem HD).
Enable Progessive scan on your DVDR.

Your recorded HD Film is that good you would thing it was live HD you where viewing.

Tnx Guyz will probably wait until after Xmas so or maybe win the lottery and go to Japan and buy one!!!! LOL!
Bigfoot I like your suggestion so will look around for a cheap Humax HD and Sony Hd playback recorder and Panny plasma as long as the Missus does not cop on!!!!

Bbigfoot- what your set up is doing is downscaling a High Def picture (1080i) from the Humax to your dvd recorder (to 576p Standard Def picture) then your recorder is upscaling a SD picture but this is NOT high def anymore!!!! You might as well be recording from a SD satellite receiver!(Although the bitrate on the downscaled HD to SD will be higher than a SD to SD broadcast).

Sorry for long reply,

The 576p is a High Def Picture.
The Scart connection from the Humax HDCI2000 to the
Progessive scan DVDR is a HD Signal (576p) when
the scart is set to (RGB) Red, Brown, Green.

The Component connection to the Progessive scan Screen (LCD TV)
is a HD Signal (576p). the Component lead is also transmitting
a (RGB) Red, Brown, Green HD Signal, just the same as the Scarts (RGB).

The scart lead does carry a HD Signal, its just in this country
thier is No 576p HD Terrestrial Signal or Tv"s setup to
recieve a HD signal through the Scart socket.
TV"s will only recieve the HD signals through the Component, HDMI, DVI,
S-Video Sockets.

Hi f.f,

Take a look at Map@ins, they have an external Blu-Ray burner
for £250.
The one im looking at is a Sony internal Blu-Ray Burner £150.
Ma@lins only have a Blu-Ray R-Blank Disk.
Don"t know why no Rewrite Blank Disks,Yet.
