I just know what I´ve seen on Dr.Dish...

It´s basically like the 7100 model but with internal HDD and 2 blindscan tuners.

Now, the questions are;
-Will the HDD recordings be accessible via ethernet?
-Will the blindscan tuners actually do both DVB-S and DVB-S2 (is such hardware actually available now?)?

These vantage units do not seem half bad...if they could only concentrate on the DVB part of things...simple things like FEC readout, bitrate flow readout, more PIDs and decent signal values are still missing.

The software for the 7100S is bug ridden and the ethernet port is totally useless as of now.

Yeah, the Vantage receivers seem to have had VERY buggy software but after all the bugfixes in now numerous software upgrades...I thought most bugs were finally ironed out?

Every time they release a new firmware they add a few more bugs...

There are so many basic features missing, like channel sorting etc...

Ethernet is useless because it is not linux based receiver, and you can use it just for Firmware upgrade and nothing else :(

I bought the Vantage because it was advertised as being able to stream the channels to the PC and also the ability to attach a webcam...

I am not bothered about the webcam but the ability to stream to the PC and able to control it from the network was the main reason I opted for the Vantage 7100S, but I am regretting my decision as of now...

I should have opted for a DVB-S2 PCI card instead....:-(

Is there any more info on this? Or a feature list? All I got from the Dr. Dish was nice pictures of the connectors.

I'm assuming it won't have any problems with 13 and 19 or 9 degrees when I add that?

Thanks

Hello folks, the new Vantage 8000 will be out at the end of the month apparently, I think I will buy one. David from satellite supersore and Roy Carmon from feedhunter are not too impressed with Vantage but I think we should give this company a chance. It was the same with Manhatten loads of bugs etc but now they are highly respected

The Dr Dish review of the Vantage 8000 looks intertesting. I have uploaded it to you tube here :

Also as there seems to be so little if any UK info or support for the Vantage I have created a y.a.h.o.o group for the 7100 and 8000S receivers :-

The German dealers seem to be taking preorders. The info is of course all in German but tech jargon is pretty much the same.

Price for the preorders seem high. 550 Euros with no HD. Goes up from there.

I'm in no rush needing to upgrade my dish setup first so I'll have the extra outputs on the LNBs. But it seems the specs fit most of my needs.

How do you mean 550 Euros with no HD ? You mean HDD I think ?!

I was'nt expecting a hard drive these are so cheap now anyway...
