Hdmi and dts???

I had a discussion with my father in law.

He said that with the new hdmi 1.3 you can also have dts sound.

I said that that is impossible, if you want true digital dts sound you must send that with a optical cable. The sound that you can send with the hdmi cable is the sound you can send with a coaxial cable, dolby digital.

How is right?

I'm afraid your going to be seeing your father in law with a red face as he is correct :redface:

More importantly if you want the new HD audio formats Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD which are both
lossless audio you have to use HDMI or analogue optical cant be used :respect-050:

Obviously you need an amp with HDMI
