This must be an alignment problem. Asta & Hotbird have a stong signal so you will be able to pick them up even if you dish is not aligned correctly. Try moving you dish a little.
you forgot to mention the size of your dish :)
having excellent signal on other sats , even same satellite but another beam doesnt
mean anything .

there are 3 thors at .8w and intelsat at 1w it depends what transponders you wish to receive not all have same power in the uk dish size is the most important factor you would need 1-1.2 for most of the channels this is only a rough guide

sorry dish size is 900mm.

you will receive some transponders with .9m dish on thor at .8w try scanning the highest signal on that sat if nothing your dish motor setup could be at fault
what transponders are you struggling with ?
for example here in south of europe ive got top signal on thor3 in heavy storm , while
i get little to nothing on most transponders on thor5 in sunny weather .

you shouldnt have a problem getting thor with a 90cm dish.
I can get all the main channels with a 60cm zone 2 sly dish in the north west.
did you align the dish on thor when you installed the motor?
you have to check that the mount is exactly level otherwise the motor wont track the arc correctly.

thanks, that's the problem not tracking the arc correctly. Should the dish alignment be vertical on thor?

Hi burton,
Try this, Scan for this transponder (12607-H-27500-3/4) it will have (DigiFilm 1) in
the list, its part of (Digitv...Intelsat @1w).
It should have arround (70% Signal Quality) on your dish.
If you do scan (DigiFilm 1) it means your on (Intelsat 10-02 @ 1w).
With a dish your size you should also be able to scan in
Canal + Digitaal at (Thor 2-3-5 @ 0.8w).
Once on Thor (BBC World) will have a (100% Signal quality) on your setup,
and all Conax channels will not fall below (80% Sig quality).
If (No Signal) Load a Conax Transponder (11216-V-24500-7/8, (TV 4). and if you are at (1w).
Set your Motor to (Diseqc) go into (Moving Motor) and choice (Step),
or what even it is in your STB.
Step means you move you Motor 1 or 2% at a time.
You will have a (Signal Bar) in there, when your dish locates
(Thor @ 0.8w) your Sig Quality will Light UP, tweek your dish to gain the highest Sig.
Then (Save). Done.

bear in mind you should have locked on thor before attempting 13e and 19e , so the minimum anyone should mention is having thor as a reference point , and ...........whatever else they can get
moved to the correct forum too

Correct m8:respect-044:
Your dish has to be more vertical as say ASTRA @HOTBIRD

having read your post regarding dish size and 0.8w
i have a problem ,ive got a 90 cm dish with diseqc 1.0 setup
0.8w is giving me telenor scanning 120 channels, also unknown(service) scanning 67 channels, also rcs scanning 75 channels and last digitv scanning 1 channel
i have diablo 2.3 which is openning all that is scanned however,
the five or six HD channels which are scanned can not be viewed properly.they are breaking up badly
what could be the problem with the hd channels when all other channels with exception and 2 discovery channels which have mono audio (and i dont know how to hear them)?
any advise will be grateful
where you live?
for example, for my location in north croatia i must have 150 cm antenna for HD channels in CD Nordic...
here is footprint of Thor 5

i orginally had a 0.5db lnb pointing at thor and couldnot pick up very much
then i changed to 0.1db lnb which helped dramatically pick up all on 0.8w with a 90cm dish but then im up north. my problem is with the hd channels as described above
just a thought
