@bonovox don't feel left out m8, I have read on another forum that 800 has overheating and lockup issues especially on HD channels and people are having to fit fans.
Soldier on with the Kathrein despite it not being able to decode channels with symbol rate of 30000 or get ITV HD, or run Cccam etc etc this may be easier to cure than the box overheating.

Can confirm the DB800 gets very hot....I would not advise putting in a internal HD untill this issue is look at ... I do have a 2nd generation db800 and was told in person these have been well tested....I let ya know if mine explodes!

Hey your little list of what the kathrein can't do nearly made me throw it in the bin. heheh. Nah its good for what I want at the moment. I don't like the fact about the 800hd overheating though, that sounds bad especially as it needs to be left on standby all the time. That might make me wait to get the 8000 which being the same size as my 7020 wouldn't have heat issues. As for the Kathrein just need them to sort ITV HD out. The picture is superb on the HD channels, can't fault it and the latest aaf1.5 seems to run pretty good for me. Come on kathrein get me ITV HD for the Euros this weekend!

Well guys my box has been on for a week, and this over heating problem is not affecting me.
The box is on 24//7 ( inc standby ),
OK I don't have a HDD in it yet, so it may get hotter.
What I will say is my box is not in a cabinet and sits on top of a unit with nothing near it.

I also do not have any problems with lock ups on HD channels, watched Nat Geo HD last night for nearly two hours and not a single glitch.

I am that happy with it, that I hoping to get another one by the end this month for the downstairs TV, this one is currently being used in bedroom with sammy 32" LCD, even with this small screen the HD pictures really stand out and the quality is spot on.

My advice to people is unless you have access to HD channels than think hard about it because its a lot of money to spend for just BBC HD.
I know Prem is currently open but this will soon be gone, as with Polsat and Digitv.
