not sure if right place to post this so sorry if in wrong section
ive got a samsung hd tv and a samsung hd dvd recorder,if i use a scart when i turn the dvd on my tv automatically to the correct av channel,when i use a hdmi lead without the scart attached i have to manually select the av channel with my remote,should this happen or should the hdmi lead work like the scart did and automatically select the av input on my tv

not got your set up but i have to maually select hdmi lead for my set up

if you snip the connection to pin 8 in the plug it will no longer switch itself on its own, you will still have to select HDMI though!

I have a Samsung HD TV, and a Sony DVD Recorder with HDMI. I can setup the receiver to automatically close down using the TV's HDMI control function, have you explored the possible control functions via HDMI in the TV menu?

The Sony will only switch off using HDMI control, but if you have a Samsung DVD rec it may give you access to the full functionality?
