Hello,

I'm intending to buy a new HD DVB-S/DVB-S2 receiver, is there any one that do blind search in HD signals? I'm interested in HD blind search , not SD blind search.

Thank you.

Vantage 7100 does a s/w blind scan, but the Vantage 8000 is meant to do proper blind scans!

What are we supposed to benefit from this? What are the extra channels blind scan will find?

It would be able to find DVB-S2 carriers...BUT has it been confirmed that the Vantage 8000s blindscan tuners will handle both DVB-S and DVB-S2? It might just do hardware blindscan on DVB-S and not DVB-S2. Worth looking into before buying.

Well, I think you're rigth maybe no HD receiver can do blind search in DVB-S2 , at the moment. It must be in drawing board , yet.

Is this confirmed from actual test or just from the product specs?

Thank you.
If it actually works and has less bugs than my Vantage HD7100s had at first release I think it will be the upgrade I have been waiting for. Now if they could just throw in 4:2:2 it would be complete but I won't hold my breath.:drool5:

sorry to sound stupid but what does blind scan mean and what advantages are there with it?

Blind scan is an extremely useful feature. Normally, to find out about channels broadcasting on a new frequency, or with new parameters, one is reliant on an up to date transponder list in the receiver or having to manualy program in the new perameters from an external source such as a listing magazine or internet source such as Lyngsat.

With blind search, the receiver discovers for itself new frequencies and parameters, and so you can be amongst the first to find the new channel and your receiver is up to date.:party::party:

On my TM6800 I went through 53E and found a lot of channels not listed elsewhere. One was HD but I was called away before I could get anything written down or saved. I'll give it another go soon. Anyone else get to 53E and blind scanning it?
