Kaon KTSC 570 combo

The receiver suddenly stopped working!
When I try to restart it, it shows a 'u' for a (very) short time then goes black.
Do you know of a program that restores the operating program in it that maybe will work -that is, if it isn't a hardware fault?
It stopped working when I switched from db-t to db-s, that's wy I think (and hope) that it is a software fault!
With the hope of getting some help
By the way, my receiver is a Kaon KTSC 570 combo -NOT the KTSC 570 co, that is the one with embedded Conax.

Hi m8s,
I take it that noone can help me with my (damned) receiver!

Or is there a technician out there that might want to help??? (Or someone else -you're welcome!)

I've tried to load the software again, but since there's no power (correct power everywhere) inside the box -that's what I think, I get no answer when I try that! (Or an IC that has gone to it's creator)
What tensions shall there by from the powersupply?
I can't measure any errors there!

Download the original Firmware from _http://www.irkaon.com/original.html


I've attached the main files I think you need below.
There are 2 different hardware versions of the firmware below, 43.61.65 and 43.71.65

I don't know how your going to know for sure which H/W version is correct for your box if it isn't booting up. Try looking underneath the receiver for any stickers which indicate the H/W version number.

Your probably also going to require a 9 PIN NULL Modem lead to connect the receiver to the PC via the RS232 port to do the upgrade.

Hi,
I'm am really greatful for all help I get (and can get)!
I've earlier in the kaon working days written down the HW I have 'in case of'! And that is the HW version 43.71.65.
I've done just what you suggested me to do -using a nullmodem cable and the correct original software!
But nothing happens!
And that is probably because there's no voltage at the precise right place inside the receiver -but who knows?!
So I just wonder, does anyone know of a certain component that often has to be replaced (as with the famous capacitor in the Nokia 9802S)

Now I've tested again -this time with this, what seems to be an excelent update tool. It says when I push 'Next' -'testing serial port' and then 'serial port probe error'. I take it that there's no connection 'cause there's no voltage in the right place in the stb. Or .................
