TomTom 300 Version 5 (old i know) red cross black arrow going through red cross

I am trying to update my friends go 300 that has never been updated.

It is showing version 5.000 map v562


Now the problem is, when i connect it to TomTom home my device has a rear picture of the TomTom with a usb cable going into the back of it and a red cross and a black arrow running through the red cross.

TomTom home keeps telling me to connect but i just cant connect.

I have tried reset, different SD card etc etc but still does not work

Your device must use bootloader version 4.86 or higher in order to be recognised by TomTom HOME 2.

1. Uninstall TomTom HOME 2.x from your computer.

2. Install TomTom HOME 1.x:

* Windows

* Mac

3. Run TomTom HOME 1.x and connect your device to check for software updates.

4. TomTom HOME 1.x will download and install the required update.

5. Safely disconnect your device from your computer and allow it to start up. Next time you connect your device TomTom HOME will automatically update to HOME 2.x.
