Only 2-3 times in 2 weeks? Thats pretty good in my opinion. The kathrein locks up 2-3 times a day! Even my dreambox 7020 locks up now and again. Something you get used to with this kind of technology.

Yeah paul, my old DM7000 locked up 2-3 times an hour on a bad day LOL :D
One thing that surprised me in a good way was the actual stability of the DM800/Enigma2.

I personally ticked the pretty happy option since the receiver actually does pretty much what it says on the box and does it pretty well, there are still a few things that needs to be corrected though.

Please note that I am looking at this from an ORIGINAL software point of view...and that is all DMM has resposibility for.

Yeah still weighing up the option of buying one. I might hold out until later this year though and may even wait for the 8000. Also I always find early adopters are often the guinea pigs for people like me who get one a bit later than everyone else as by then the early problems are ironed out.;)

I am pretty happy with my DM800, but SD quality is crap even compared to my old DM7000 which has a poor tuner...

Hmmm, the results are very interesting, it seems to be centred on "just average" ...

I agree with the SD quality being alot poorer than my old 7000s and 500s and 500+. Probably more noticable for me with a 50" plasma. Some SD channels are painful to watch. Considering that 99% of the channels I watch are SD this is a big issue.
Also scrolling text on news channels and film credits is bumpy with intermittent blurring at both 50Hz and 60Hz.
If I connect USB and eSata I get ac3 audio sync problems on HD channels. Maybe the processer is not up to the task.
Also during FTP I constantly loose power to the ethernet port, and don't always get power to the eSata port resulting in a few restarts to get it going.
Zapping inter transponder channels is slow.
All my other issues are more to do with enigma2 and not the box.

I don't understand why SD broadcasts would be any worse than older SD boxes. Is it because you are viewing them upscaled which can make the quality worse than better? Isn't there a setting that lets you watch SD broadcasts in 576i other than upscaled to 720p or 1080i?
