TomTom go 720 help please

After updating my 720 through the PC, something might have gone wrong, now there is no stop button when you play MP3 files and the small musical note picture is on the screen all the time even if I switch it on and off, I cant do a restore because I didn't do a backup (very stupid of me I know) any Idea how can I restore to factory settings? please any one.

If I must do a complete resetting, can I update to the new navcore v8?

Have you tried doing a reset?
Look for a small hole and use a paper clip to press the reset button for 15 seconds.
