Vantage 8000

I am thinking of buying the vantage 800os (actually waiting for 8000TS). Just want to check whether anyone on this forum owns one and their initial thoughts.

If not this box, any other recommended HD box?

Thanks for the replies. I like the vantage because of the internal hdd and the hardware blind scan. I am not sure all the recommended box apart from ipbox has internal hdd capabilty and i dnt like the ipbox.

does anybody on this board own vantage 8000 ? what are your impressions ?

It arrived earlier today actually (Monday) Look on the vantage group on y a h o o for my brief review. At the moment I am about to screw in the supplied caddy for the hard drive but some of it touches the components, some stick feet are included for this 'problem' I guess ?

Yes indeed ! It works fine have edited the ITV HD settings so this displays ok as well as Ch4 HD with my dragon cam...Can record 2 progs if
they are on the same transponder and playback at the same time

avi playback on a USB stick etc is ok'ish not perfect all the time

Do you have only one LNB input? If you have two inputs then shouldn't you be able to record two channels no matter on their location

Yes true no only the one LNB input so they have to be the same transponder with me not that is a problem for my usuage

Probably but I'm not really into this, what's quite cool is you can put a saved channel list you made with the editor on to a USB memory stick, select this on the 8000 and it will reboot and load it

I just read your ***** review thank you. You mentioned the blind search was good and located HD channels. Are any of the HD channels that it found in DVB-S2 or does it only locate DVB S channels?

Or everything is PAL?
In certain parts of the world NTSC is a requirement.

1.Does anyone knows if Vantage 8000 is patchble?
2.Is tuner so sensitive to lock weaksignal as at {threshold demodulation} analog receiver?
3.Is any editor PC for transponders and satellites for Vantage?
4.If anyone has this receiver,does he pleased with it?

I think there are some bugs in the timer software. Plus for some wierd reason I'm losing channels. Strong signal but one channel out of a network will not show up. Then for no reason everything is fine. Hopefully also a software bug.

I have Vantage 8000s and like it´s great box. But i have problem with my dishmotor Hyro HH100 because reciever will not move dish in motorsetup. I have sent a mail to Vantage Support because it´s a problem in firmware. I have a old reciever Hyro 7520st (Cloned with Vantage x221 and use Vantage´s firmware) and it work great with my dishmotor.

I find a solution with motorproblem, i user my old reciever and navigate to correct satelliteposition so Vantage 8000 can take motorposition and save in Usals + motorposition and change again to position so it work to change satellite with motor in Vantage. It´s very job, but it work... I hopes Vantage-user got better firmware soon...

It don´t work with Positioner and can not move dish in Tuner 1. I have test use Tuner 2 and work great to move dish, but no picture. A bad monday-example reciever?

I have now picture and it work with dish in Tuner 2. I make a factory setting. Vantage Support say it´s problem between reciever and dishmotors. They work to find a solution and hopes to update firmware soon. Tuner 1 will only use Usals and wait to a new firmware-update..

Hi, can you help, i see you have edited your channels to include ITV HD and CH4 HD.

Where in the menu do i go to edit these settings ? i dont see anything to edit PID's etc .. ?

im using formware Vantage_023701 cam emu

Even a blind scan on these frequencies does not find them ? what am i missing here ?

I can however, scan in the Premiere 1 - 4 , Premiere Austria, Premiere sport portal, Premiere Filmfest, Premiere Filmclassics, Premiere Nostalgie, Premiere serie, Premiere Krimi.

I dont understand why the receiver cant scan in these channels. The frequencies above are current from king0fs@t site.

thanks but could you explain the directiions after I press "menu", where do i go after that ? Manual scan again and scan those individual frequencies ? at what point do i press "Options" ?

WOW!! i would never have thought of pressing "opt" on a channel in order to open up more channels. Def not like my old Humax , it just found the channels and saved them. Thats a very fiddly way of getting hidden channels.

Are there any other "Hidden" channels, that i have been missing out on ?

u can also get a channel list from the net or download 1 via the ftp in vantage box on the vantage site.

all channels are usually in thoose files.
