Hi to everyone,
I have just bought a Dreambox 500-s and think it is fantastic apart from one problem, the dish will not move off 19.2east which it is on at the moment. My dish is powered with a Diseqc 1.2 motor which i know works fine because the led is on and i can move it manually using the button on the motor. it was working at 1 stage and now it won't. Is it anything to do with the settings in the Dreambox. Please help!

The easiest way is to go into Sat Config. Make sure you select Many Sats via DISEqc Rotor. Then in Motor Setup make sure you tick Goto XX Function. Then input your Longitude and Latitude. If your not sure what these are for your location have a look at
http://www.satsig.net/maps/lat-long-finder.htm
Just zoom in to you your location on the map and it will give you the reading you need.
Hope this helps

Thanks guys,

I put the longitude & latitude in and the sats are stored, it did work at 1 point but then it stopped moving. i am going to wipe them off and have another go at resetting them again.

I will let you know how i get on.
Thanks For your help.

How long is your coax from the db to the motor?

Have you got another satellite box that can move the motor?

Have a look at the connections and check that the stripped coax is 'clean'

Maybe get a positioner between the db and motor

just a few thoughts....

Thanks aslat,

The coax from db to motor is about 20m and the stripped coax seems fine.
A friend of mine is bringing his db down for me to try. I have been wondering if it something to do with the firmware.

I will keep you posted and let you know how i get on.

I could never get the goto xx function working..

I set mine using: -
Many Sats via DISEqc Rotor
Then motor setup
choose a sat and then move it manually with the right or left button and then click save...

Carry on the same way for other satellites

I do remember having a similar problem when I first got my DB. I ended up sending it back. On its return I still had problems. It turned out to be the 12V Transformer and not the DB. I'm using a 15V and that works fine. The 12v would not drive my motor.
Check your router power transformer thats what I used until I got a new one. Give it a go you never no it may work.

What is the amperage of the Transformer.See post 3.

The power supply from the db is 12v but only 1amp.

Increase it to at least a 2 amp.Its the amperage that is the work horse.

Hi,

I found that when disconnected the LNB from my rotor i was able to drive the rotor from my db so what i did was change the LNB and so far so good the db seems to be working fine.
