Format hdd

Can I format my ext seagate Hdd so I can use it with my 800 and transfer movies from it via USB or firewire cable to my PC (running win XP)

you have two options:

1- you connect it to your pc and share it, then mount the share on your DM, the good thing in this option that your HD will remain ntfs or fat32.
2- connect it to your DM, mount it, and create a samba server so your pc will see the share, but the HD will be formated with ext2 or ext3.
