Gibertini OS150 great results !!!

Hi,
i´v just set up a fully motorized Gibertini´s OS 150 " for a very good friend of mine , a mini DX system i should say due to restictions" and i must say i was realy happy with the results

Astra 2D vertical including BBC 1 Cambridge and BBC HD (from 5Am to 11 PM)
Astra 2D Horizontal including BBC2 (from 5AM to 2 PM some times to 5PM but with breaks)

Looks great, but please remove the tape from the mast and fasten the leads with stripes, looks more professional, don´t you think?

I would like to get in touch with you, because I have some questions, I also have a motorizad system, but with single stab diseque motor, now I would like to put up exactly the same, and I would like to know exactly the part list, and where in Spain have you got all the stuff... and so on.

hi,

stripes will strangulate(damage) the cable and with the heat we have here in summer it will last and crack in1 year max ,i use 3M tape and it last for years.. this is not that important anyway ,the location as i said south east of spain near Javea/Denia ,the area is very well known for its difficulies to pick up Astra 2D , here is the list of the parts:

1-antenna OS 150 gibertini
1-Offset channel master feedhorn
1-LNB inverto twin "FLANGE C120"
1-LNB C Band Dual polarity 13ºK
1-Diseq switch 3B electronica X3
1-Motor jeager SMR1224 EL
1-Freesat Humax FOX/HD (the best freesat decoder tuner wise)
1-Sat receiver Manhattan Plaza 500 great for control and Blind scanning...i do have few more receivers i did test
1-Sat HD receiver kathrein UFS910( Great tuner i get Film 4 all thru the morning )

i also managed to get some rare stuff like the african spot from the south african provider Multichoice and lots of russian and south american stuff thru C band .i will still do some more tests soon to explore the sky ..but so far so good the jump from 1m dish made a great difference...cheers

very nice setup there, i have the same motor but using a 90cm channel master dish at the moment, which i'm going to change to a 1.2

Congratulations, that's the same dish setup I am thinking of here in Tuscany, and for the same reason (Astra 2d). A couple on newbie questions: with the dish do you need the polar mount to go with the motor? Also, the Jaeger already includes a positioner (did not see on the part list)? If so, is this controlled by the diseqc commands of the receiver, so that I only need to feed 230V power to the motor?

with jeager you will not need a polar mount as it built in all other motor then yes . and no its not diseqc so you will need a v/box

no polar mount needed if you go for this motor, BUT make sure you get the adapter bits witch you can get from the german "s a t s hop24" ,in this case an old manhattan receiver with build in positioner is in use..regards

Thanks very much for the answers. I have this last doubt: not having a decoder with a build-in positioner I'll need an exernal one, a v/box or something similar, as you were saying.

Where do I put the v/box? I imagine it will get the diseqc 1.2 commands from the receiver and translate them to appropriate dish movements.
So it should stay somewhere along the coax cable from the decoder to the dish. If I am not wrong, the cable connecting the v/box and the dish is a four lead cable, so if I put it near the decoder I had to add this cable and this is not very practical, expecially since I have about 30m to go and no real space left in the wire looms. I was thinking about putting the positioner near the dish, where I have a 230V power source, is this ok?

if its safe and no water or humidity penetration could happen ,why not! i would use a special PVC box for that

Pipino, did you try an lnb-f on the dish?

Or just the Andrews feed and c120 lnb, as some members have said that

there getting better results on an Andrews dish with a good lnb-f!

yes i did try mti lnb-f ,and still a combination of inverto flage C120 lnb and channel master feedhorn works much better( but you need to push as far back possible) ,and who ever say the with lnb-f works better i ask them please show and explain your experience with details,yesterday i had a conversation with my provider and he told me 3 gibertinis dish had to be returned back to him because the installer could'nd set it and get astra 2D !!??,for most cases specialy here in spain most english installer specialy are cowboys with a **** plastic (i wouldnt call it meter) but wisler ,so if the reoports comes from these type of ppl ,honestly i'm not interested of there testimony...cheers

ASC Signal's Ku-band feed horn has been developed specifically for offset dishes and provides optimum performance in demanding situations reception.

Though this feed horn is designed especially for ASC Signals dishes, it has been proven to work even on the textbook, for example Gibertinis offset dishes. For best performance, recommended that feed horn in komination with Qdf-031 Invacom Universal Quad LNB 0.3dB C120.

The set includes a LNB-cap and a mount that fits on the ASC Signal dish the LNB-arms. If you are using feeder horn on an offset-dish of different make picks, you simply remove the included bracket.

(LNB-cap resulting in often can not be used because it is relatively small and therefore not fit in with big LNB)

Why didn't you buy a corrotor for this dish works much better and you will have more signal on the C-band.

the problem with this set up if i use the Corotor i will have to use a wideband LNB like swedish microwave X line not all receivers will manage it,but that i would set it with my future monster DH dish .. i got 5 2.40 DH dishes from the USA ,sold already 2 down here in spain i have 2 more for sale ,and i will keep the last one for my use.they work great ...soon you´ll see some nice pictures...cheers

i havent installed the DH as yet i need to bring it with a special truck to my place and get a special permission to install it as i live among funny neibours,but soon as i do that i will post some pictures ,by the way DH dish is very well known high quality aluminium antenna used in both C and Ku band DX transmission..regards

for DH antennas 2.40m they cost 600€ each ,there are 2 left and if both taken would cost about 1100€ the whole lot ,but the problem is the transportation..do you live in spain???...regards

Yeah, transportation is a big problem with the big dishes, I live far up north so I think I will have to find a local dish...
What is your opinion about 8 or 6 sectioned dishes? How bad/good are they? I've heard that a 8 section 2,4m dish compares to a 1,8m solid, is this right?
