New motor setup

It appears my actuator is knackered. When I try to set E/W limits I just get "ACTUATOR ERROR" I have checked the connection etc.
I have had my dish (80cm) for about 12 years so it has done well.
I have just noticed that instead of the actuator etc setup I have got it may be easier to fit a "MOTEK" motor or similar. That looks a lot simpler than what I have got and quite cheap.
Is it as easy as that?

yes but they are not as strong in windy conditions, i would say replace the actuator and the problem will be sorted

on the actuator, check the reed switch as they need replacing after a while

I would second that..a reed switch is so easy to change..and a lot cheaper than a new motor..

if the motor still moves e-w then probably is the reed switch but if the motor is knackered time for a new actuator you could try with a 12v battery also to see if the motor still works

i just take all my jacks apart most of the time give them a good clean and lub back up , and work fine i still useing one from 1995 , still on the same reed also . got one of **** in a bucket of water with a dish done the same with that and have it on my dish for 2 years now ,

I decided that 15 odd years was good service so goodbye. I am having a new 88cm dish and a Technomate 6900S installed wednesday. You cant take it with you so I am going to spend a bit.:sifone:
