Possible reasons for non-communication:
1. Wrong Com Port selected
2. Wrong cable being used. A Null Modem (RS232c) cable is the correct cable. The RS232 (non-crossover) cable looks identical but will not work as it does not allow 2 way communications.
3. After starting the data transmission on your computer, you must power your receiver down /up to start reception in your Humax. Upon completion, press the Standby button on the front of your Humax.
4. Wrong ToH software being sent. The software for the 5400Z and 5400Z+ is different.

1. The RS232 port is commonly Com1 but it may be different on your PC.
2. I assume you are using a single Null Modem cable running from your computer RS232 port to your Humax (i.e. no USB adaptors or extension cables)
3. Acknowledged.
4. Are you deliberately trying to load a Greek version of the ToH software as identified by the "gr" suffix. Have you updated your firmwaredatabase.xml file. This should be in your HDFSmart folder.
Download update from Nostromolabs.c*m
Look for FirmwareDB 11.8 dated 29.04.08

could it be a problem with the 5400 ?
has it ever been patched before? the z version needed to be patched with a z-board to enable the com port..... if it has got a toh patch on allready it will have been z-borded and im just writing a load of nonsence!
you could try lowering the com speed....
try sending something else like a channel list just to make sure your connections are ok and its not just the firmware your having problems with...
cant believe im posting in this section again after all this time :-)

I have experienced this sort of thing before and never worked out why, but have laways managed to clear it with PC and Humax reboots (while connected). I have also found older slower PCs more reliable. That said I also recently have had sucess with a USB to Serial cable bought from ****. Make sure also that your COM port is all working - try another device on it.
