No the OTA upgrades were stopped some time ago.
What firmware are you running on your Echostar 3000?
If you go into the menu there is a section that will give you this information.
You can still upgrade using a null modem cable and your computer but you probably already have the last updated software which was v1100.

Mine is updated to latest and that in itself is a few years old IIRC. It's on firmware v1000. v900 was April 2002, btw So v1000 has got to be at least five years old anyway. So it may be on the latest.

No, it's actually a female to female null-modem cable you need.

For the 3000 the last firmware was the 1100, there shouldn't be that much difference between the 1000 and the 1100.

I use my 3000ip to move dish daily. It is on v1100. However I seem to recollect a number of us having to have repairs after upgrading to the higher versions. Cost was £80 / £100!! My strong recommendation is that if it drives the dish OK leave it with the old software!

Sorry I posted that 1000 was latest, oops.

Mine, too, suffered from really dodgy text on the channel banners. I was told it'll be a costly repair; a replacement eeprom would fix it.

I never bothered and it seems to have gone, a few years ago.

Shortly before Echostar stopped supporting their receivers they released a beta 1100 version, of the software, for their Viaccess embedded receivers.
I tried the beta 1100 version, a few years ago, on a 3600 model, and although some functions were improved, I found one major bug in the audio options.
It kept defaulting back to the Spanish option, on D+, from User whenever I switched the receiver off.
This became so annoying I changed back to the v1000 software within a few days.
I just wish they had kept up support long enough to release a full working version of the 1100 software for our Echostars.
