Vantage 8000 second tuner. How to use?

I've got two feeds into the back of the receiver. When I tell the box to record an event in the future it always switches the receiver to that channel when it's time. Shouldn't it use the second tuner?

I want to watch one station while recording a different one. Or some nights to record two channels.

can you pull up PIP and set to second tuner? then you should swap between what's being recorded and whatever else you want to watch?

At least my 7025 can do that,just suggesting to try that way.
