Not having received it box yet, I've been trying to do some homework on how to get the best out of this new receiver. From other threads it sounds like with a usb 'pen' you need to load three files - the latest Technomate firmware, latest Darkman or Magic patch and latest Kempa82 tmsoftcam patch. Channel list as well if you want that.

Is it as simple as that or do we need to use the Darkman loader in some way?

You can do the above by using a USB stick.

Alternatively you can use the loader in the tried tested way via the RS232 port at the back. Just like the TM1500. You would need to do it this way if you want to load a bin file for TPS for example.

Thanks but are you confirming that all I need to do is copy, presumably the uncompressed versions of these files to the usb stick and the receiver software will then know what to with the data in some way?

No, you first load latest patch & Kempa Softcam with USB then use Darlkman 1.87 Loader (same version as TM1000) plus TPS Bin via pc serial cable & NOT USB - you see it loading with display on stb front!
Go on TPS channels, switch stb off & on - and off you go!:respect-051:

darkman loader and the null modem cable will load everything in the correct place in the receiver flash, including the tps.bin files and the boot flash file if needed

the usb pen drive can do almost everything apart from reflashing the receiver with the boot software , or loading the tps.bin files

so the null modem cable method is needed for the boot software ( if required ) and for the tps.bin files ( if required )

so the pen drive can do most tasks but only the null modem method can do every task that may be required

the loaders always write the information into the correct section in the receiver flash , doesntr matter which loader is used , if it can do the job it knows what its doing
