connecting to db800 with laptop....

can this be done, connecting to db800 with cat5 lead and then flashing the box or uploading files etc... without being on a network.

Yes, you use a different CAT5 cable to the one you use on your router. The one you use on your router is a CA5 straight cable.

To connect the DM800 directly to the Laptop ethernet port you require a CAT5 crossover cable.
