View Full Version : 16 GB USB Flash no HD playback

My new 16 GB USB Flash drive record and playback SD recordings without any problems. But HD playbacks are not working properly. Could it be that write speed of a Flash drive is not fast enough to cope with HD transfer rate?

That would be my guess as the bit rate is considerably higher.

Have you tried recording via ethenet to a PC ?

You say they don't playback but they may have recorded OK.

Try playing the USB Flash drive recording on a PC to see what happens.

How can I record from 6900 Super to PC via ethernet?

Unfortunately I haven't got another Hard disc ( that why I bought 16GB USB flash)!

I have a 4gig usb stick and tried to record HD,the memory is not much about 45mins.It recorded and played back perfectly.I had a few hickups with an earlier patch but the last patch works fine.Do you have the latest patch?

My 2GB SD card with USB reader works almost flawlessly but this new 16GB stick is obviously too slow then. Time to think about getting USB hard drive.

i had a 500 gig hard drive,it gave nothing but problems i have gone back to my 4 gig usb stick works for me

Similar problems here with the 6900 super. The larger the capacity of either hard drive or memory stick, the less likely the ability to record HD properly (or at all). Mine works fine with a Philips USB powered 120Gb hard drive, but not with a 500 Gb externally powered one. Tempted to try an esata based hard drive, as it runs at increased bit rate, but not too many around, and connect it to the corresponding esata port on the 6900. Just not got any confidence it would work !

Ooops! Sorry m8, I thought the 6000s had an ethernet port.

Did you try playing the USB Flash recording on a PC to see if it is the record or playback that is failing. I know it's only academic but interesting, nevertheless.

I have been using the above with very few problems with 6900HD (not super),the only problem I have had is with afew dropout on the drive a bad sector on it

In the end it was not worth wasting any more time, so I've got myself Freecom 160GB and it records fine!

As a matter of interest did you format the 16gig stick on the 6900.

I've tried both, formatting on PC and TM, and HD recordings were stopping and skipping!

Ive a western digital, 500gig My Book external hard drive and recorded loads of films on sd and hd on my 6800 with no problems other than not having the latest software on the 6800 in the first place.

Did you have to format the Freecom 160GB and if so how? The Technomate site says it isn't necessary for Freecom drives.
