What do people typically see as their 'SNR' value when watching channels.

I'm not sure if its in my mind or not but anything below 10db seems to glitch every 10 seconds or so on my DM800 but I'm not sure what is a good SNR value

Mine hovers above 14db for Hotbird which was about 90% signal strength on my old receiver if that helps.

How low SNR you can get away with without getting breakups depends on the error correction used (FEC value). The higher error correction (for ex 1/2) the lower SNR is needed and vice verca.

For a value like 3/4 I believe you can come down to around 4 dB before getting visible errors on your screen. Channels using low error correction (DVB-S 5/6, 7/8 and especially DVB-S2 8/9, 9/10) will require a significantly higher SNR for error free reception.

So kemik, always take notice of the FEC value in these matter (mainmenu->information->service->tuner status[blue button]).

If you get a glitch every 10 secs on all transponders slightly below 10 dB, then IŽd say your problem is not your reception but rather something somewhere along your setup/gear.
