Stylish crime thriller with a film noir feel, co-written by and starring Ida Lupino, with Steve Cochran, Dorothy Malone, Dean Jagger and Howard Duff, who would later become Lupino's third husband (888)

2.35pm Carrington VC (PG) 1954 David Niven stars in this legal drama as a decorated Army major who resorts to embezzling mess funds to make ends meet — an act that leaves him facing a court martial, with the evidence stacked against him. To make matters worse, his wife sees the opportunity to get revenge for his wartime affairs by providing false testimony for the prosecution. Margaret Leighton, Noelle Middleton, Laurence Naismith and Clive Morton are among those lending support (888)

4.40pm Operation Amsterdam (PG) 1958 A stiff-upper-lipped British Army officer engages in a spot of larceny, but it's all to aid the war effort. But German soldiers look set to thwart the plan. Energetic World War Two adventure, starring Peter Finch, Tony Britton and Eva Bartok (888)

6.45pm Save the Last Dance (12) 2000 A troubled teenager moves to a tough inner-city school after her mother's death, but struggles to settle into her vastly different life — until a new boyfriend helps her discover a fresh sense of purpose through the power of dance. Romantic drama, starring Julia Stiles, Sean Patrick Thomas and Kerry Washington

9.00pm Elizabeth (15) 1998 Shekhar Kapur's sumptuous historical drama stars a mesmerising Cate Blanchett as the virgin queen in an account of her rise to the throne. The impressive supporting cast includes Geoffrey Rush, Christopher Eccleston and Joseph Fiennes (888)

11.25pm Jackass: The Movie (18) 2002 Johnny Knoxville and his gang of daredevil friends bring the daft, hilarious MTV series to the big screen. Anarchic comedy, co-starring Bam Margera, with appearances by Henry Rollins, Spike Jonze and Tony Hawk (888)

1.15am Autumn Sonata (15) 1978 A concert pianist visits her often-neglected daughters, but is shocked to realise the gulf that lies between them. Ingmar Bergman's emotional drama, starring Ingrid Bergman, Liv Ullman and Lena Nyman
