i bought this receiver when they first came out, only used it for about a month then went back to my old echostar.Thats now packed up i was wondering if i should try the 5000ci again and can it be patched or is it worth the bother now, with all the new receiver now on the market.

its probably ok if you use a diablo or dragon/trex cam in it to get the up to date channels open using up to date cam patches

probably not worth using if you havent got one of those cams apart from any fta channels

bin it, it's well out of date and of little use. But hang on a few weeks beause there lots going off at the moment and many receivers may be rendered useless shortly. Maybe start looking at a linux box.

thanks i still got my dragon cam with a m2 plus card but i cant get much volume from my old faithfull echostar and they want around £60 to fix it.So i was thinking of rigging up the 5000 as a tempory fix till i can afford a dreambox.
